Symposium on "Sustainable habitat management"

Biodiversity and bird protection along line routes

Due to the pandemic, APG’s first online symposium on “Sustainable Habitat Management – Biodiversity and Bird Protection along Line Routes” was held on 1 and 2 June 2021 as an online conference. Taking up where preceding symposia left off, conference participants were treated to fascinating presentations providing valuable information on a wide range of topics.

The outstanding talks given by speakers from Austria and other countries, who also came from a variety of disciplines including universities, public authorities, NGOs and infrastructure, were a source of inspiration for the attendees and the other presenters.

A selection of the topics focused on active bird protection and various species conservation programmes. High-profile international experts from BirdLife Austria, BirdLife Carinthia and the Vienna University of Veterinary Medicine, for instance, provided insight into their collaboration with APG in the field of nature and species conservation.

Speakers from infrastructure operators in Austria and abroad explained the measures being implemented, for example in Germany, for the purposes of nature and species conservation.
