The award recognizes APG’s long-standing commitment to ensuring a sustainable electricity supply for Austria, as well as its substantial investments in the country’s energy infrastructure — amounting to €680 million in 2026 and €9 billion by 2035.
“As Austria’s electricity transmission system operator, sustainability is part of our DNA. We invest for the benefit of society — in a secure and affordable energy transition, the electrification of the country’s industry and economy, and ultimately in safeguarding Austria as a place to live and do business. We are therefore especially proud to receive this award once again. This top ranking confirms the consistency of our efforts. For decades, we have ensured a reliable electricity supply from Lake Constance to Lake Neusiedl while playing a central role in transforming Austria’s energy system. Every APG infrastructure project lays the foundation for a successful energy transition, affordable electricity, and the long-term competitiveness of Austria as a business and industrial location. We also see this ranking as validation of our consistent brand management and our commitment to transparent and proactive communication, which has strengthened trust in the APG brand among our stakeholders. It demonstrates that our single-brand strategy is delivering lasting results. At the same time, this recognition motivates us to continue advocating for the framework conditions needed to achieve a secure and successful energy transition,” says APG Corporate Spokesperson Christoph Schuh.
For the seventh time, the European Brand Institute has assessed the contributions of public-service companies and organizations to Austria’s sustainable development across five sectors: transportation, utility infrastructure, energy, health and social infrastructure, and finance. The assessment is based on a catalogue of 52 indicators derived from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under the 2030 Agenda and ISO 20671. Using the European Brand Institute’s proprietary EBI Scoring Model, these indicators are translated into the Sustainable Brand Rating. The ranking forms part of the Austrian Brand Value Study, which has identified Austria’s most valuable brands annually for the past 25 years.
APG once again achieved the highest possible rating — AAA ("Above Average") — with all evaluations conducted in direct comparison to industry peers. Schuh adds: “Public-service companies play a vital role in society. At APG, we are embedding the ongoing digital transformation into our core business. In the future, innovative digital platforms will make a significant contribution to a secure electricity supply by integrating new market participants into the electricity system. This will make the energy system more digital, more sustainable, and more efficient.”
