APG Reinforces Planning Team With Experts From Germany

APG opened a branch office in Dortmund in January 2023.

From there, a total of seven experts will work together with colleagues from Austria to push the planning and expansion of APG's electricity grid infrastructure for a secure energy transition in Austria. "By setting up this operating unit in Germany, we have taken advantage of changes in the market and brought top expertise and know-how into our company. When it comes to employees with high technical qualifications, you have to be flexible - because they are rare on the market," explains company spokesperson Christoph Schuh. APG is investing a total of 490 million euros in the modernization and expansion of the electricity infrastructure in Austria in 2023. By 2032, a total of 3.5 billion euros will be invested, which will contribute to the success of the energy transition, the consolidation of a sustainable security of supply and the safeguarding of the economic and living standards in Austria.

The most recent grid development plan of APG provides for 46 grid expansion projects, about 240 kilometers of new power lines in the transmission grid, about 110 km of conversions of existing lines to higher voltage levels, about 290 km of general line renewals, 20 new substations by 2030 to strengthen the connections of the distribution grids and as new feed-in points for renewable energies, as well as expansions and renovations of existing substations, about 50 new transformers with a total capacity of about 18,000 MVA for the coupling of voltage levels.
