Substation Lienz

Situated in the municipality of Nußdorf-Debant, the Lienz substation is part of the western operating region and comprises a 380-kV switching station, a 220-kV switching station and a 110-kV switching station. The substation was commissioned in 1953, starting with a 110-kV switching station. A 220-kV switching station was installed in 1963 and the substation was further extended in 1990 with the addition of a 380-kV switching station. In order to interconnect the grids and thereby maintain a secure electricity supply, 380/220-kV and 220/110-kV grid coupling transformers are in operation at this site.

The substation provides local grid support to the distribution grids in East Tyrol and Carinthia controlled by grid operators TINETZ and Kärnten NETZ.

The substation is also the base for an overhead line team whose role is to manage the high-voltage overhead lines in the region, ensure that they are operating properly as well as to carry out maintenance work and remedy any faults.
