The impacts on the NTCs (Net Transfer Capacities), published here, reflect the possible changes from APG’s perspective (status: September 2011). On account of congestions in the neighboring control areas, the bilaterally agreed NTC values may also be lower.
The following are long-term infrastructure projects that will either be commissioned by APG in the course of the next three years or are in the planning stage.
Phase shifting transformer at Lienz substation

Installation of a 220/220 kV phase shifting in the Lienz substation in order to regulate the power flow on the connecting line between APG and Italy (Lienz – Soverzene) and, hence, guarantee a reliable grid operation without cost intensive congestion management measures.

Burgenland line: South Burgenland - Vienna Southeast

Description:

The pylons of the Burgenland line, between the South Burgenland substation and the Vienna Southeast substation, were structurally sized for three sub-conductors (bundle of 3) per phase and per system, however, due to the grid configuration and operational requirements at the time, only two sub-conductors (bundle of 2) were installed. Now, in order to complete the Burgenland line in terms of construction, grid technology and operations, the third sub-conductor is now being installed. |

Zell/Ziller substation

Ernsthofen – St. Peter
| Description: |
The existing Ernsthofen – St. Peter line has been constructed as a 380 kV line and is currently being operated with 220 kV. Upgrading to 380 kV operation is envisaged in order to meet the future demands on the APG power grid. The project comprises an expansion in the Ernsthofen und St. Peter substations. The line itself is already designed for 380 kV operations.

St. Peter – Staatsgrenze (Simbach)
| Description: |
The intensely growing energy exchange between Austria and Germany has made an expansion of transmission capacities necessary. The first step planned in this direction is a two-system 380 kV overhead line from grid junction St. Peter to Simbach substation in Germany. In a second expansion project, the connecting line from Tennet TSO GmbH (Germany) to the German grid junction at Ottenhofen will be completed.

St. Merchant Line Greuth - Tarvisio
| Description: |
The company Eneco Valcanale S.p.A. is erecting a private connection line between Austria and Italy, which has been conceived as a 132 kV overhead line from Greuth/Arnoldstein to Tarvis. The line is a "merchant line", i.e. not subject to the regulation regime in compliance with EU provision (EG 714/2009).
